Viking is the terran air-ground transformable unit.
Overview
Vikings are often used in aerial battles against other air units, including colossi and lift-off terran structures, making them most common terran air units since wraiths. They can be rarely seen around the base except for the battlefields like in "TvT."
Appearance
Aerial vikings are shaped like typical aeroplanes with very broad wings. The pilot appears wearing a helmet with T-shaped visor, and the fashion is almost similar to ghost's. They fire lanzer torpedoes against aerial units only.
Ground vikings are formed when the aerial form switches its parts around before landing on the terrain. They become walkers as they grow legs in order to move. They run with typical plantigrade feet. They are armed with twin gattling cannons against other ground units.
Trivia
- Viking's tranformation sequence was made visible in "Heart of the Swarm Opening" other than the older episode "Epic Mule Time" where it only transformed off-screen.
- Vikings never walk on land in the series. But in StarCrafts Mod, they do.
- Viking pilot is visible on "Burning Tide Part 2."
