Season 3 Episode 0
The drone harvests a mineral field, dropping a half of a heart-shaped mineral piece. The drone takes it and crawls out of the zerg base to be given to a nearby zealot Bob the Ragelot. As it offers Bob a half-heart mineral, Bob angrily kicks it off the ramp. Then, it crawls toward the terran base but gets blocked off by a raised supply depot.
Feeling rejected, the drone crawls away with gloom and the rain pours down hard. The drone seeks shelter under the tree until it is zapped by a lightning strike. After the rainfall, it encounters a probe carrying an identical half-heart mineral. Happily obliged, the drone and probe hold their heart pieces together until it is magically merged. The completed heart mineral floats up behind xel'naga tower and activates its heart ring. The "Happy Valentine's Day" is shown.
Until then, a drop pod grabs the heart mineral, revealing a MULE who steals it away. The probe gets upset and chases after the MULE, leaving the drone freeze in apprehension.
- This is the first holiday-special episode to celebrate Valentine's Day.
- This is the first episode where a newer probe design is used. This new probe has a completely circular shape, lacking any details behind them.
Cultural References Edit
- The mineral heart has a similar look with the Crystal Heart in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
- Drone and probe merging their heart pieces together to activate the xel'naga tower is a reference to Xel'naga's hybrids that fuses protoss and zerg using their genetics and psionic harness, thanks to Samir Duran and Amon as the Dark Voice.
