High Templar auto attack

A High templar using his auto-attack

High Templar are powerful psionic spellcasters of the protoss. Having been around since the very beginning of Starcraft, the high templar have frequently terrorized the battlefield with their psychic prowess, and find themselves at odds with Terran and Zerg forces.

Overview[]

They are fragile and don't put up much of a fight in straight combat, but instead rely on their powerful abilities, including the infamous psionic storm, to deny their opponents battlefield advantages. They also often use feedback to cause any enemy spellcaster units, from medivacs to battlecruisers, to quite simply self-destruct. In addition, they can also merge with another high or Dark templar to form an Archon, a more conventional but powerful offensive unit.

Despite their fearsome abilities, the high templar has also been the butt of jokes regarding its reaction to attack-move commands: as it lacks an auto attack, a-moving a control group will lead to the high templar ignoring any attempts to engage the enemy as it floats head-first towards your command point. This frequently gets them torn to shreds, as seen in Orders are Orders. Thankfully it is not all lost, as in the latest versions, they have gained a weak auto-attack which mainly serves to keep them at a distance from their opponent.

Appearance[]

The high templar carries over the simplified appearance of all of Carbot's depictions of protoss units, with a long, pill-shaped body, stick limbs, and a set of pupil-less, merged cartoon eyes. In addition, the high templar specifically wears ornamental power armor to signify its importance on the battlefield. This consists of a helmet and chestplate with embedded crystals, a flowing cape, and a floating decoration behind their backs.

High Templar prefer to float instead of walking, which is odd because it doesn't get them anywhere any faster than just putting their boots on the ground.

Known Individuals[]

Swag Templar[]

Probably Carbot's most famous depiction of High Templar, Swag Templar is known for coming in at the last second for a clutch feedback, destroying an overseer that was revealing a desperate friendly Dark Templar.

Tassadar[]
