Sgt. Patches' debut

Zerg BM is the fourth episode in the first season of StarCrafts.

Plot[]

After the events of previous episode, "Micro Marine", the surviving marine gets ambushed by a zergling. He reaches the bunker occupied by another marine and jumps through its window but is stuck. The second marine pulls him inside, revealing an exposed rear end ripped off by the zergling. A second zergling jumps onto the bunker and defecates. Two marines prepares their rifles. The butt-exposed marine sees a jumping zergling and aims at it. When the second zergling is heard behind the second marine, the butt-exposed marine shoots at it but accidentally hits the other marine, killing him, much to his shock and horror.

Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • This is the origin of Patchbutt marine (widely later known as Sgt. Patches"), whose exposed rear was later restitched in "Epic Mule Time"
    • How he was restitched will be revealed in the epilogue of season 3 episode, "You Fired."
  • This episode is the first appearance of zerg race.
    • This is the first appearance of Patchling, a zergling which repeatedly coughs out patches of Sgt. Patches' suit as a running gag.
  • This episode is the first time Sgt. Patches shoots an allied marine by accident when startled. The second time will be in the season 3 finale, "Alliance Part 3".
    • This is the first time a terran unit kills another terran unit. The second time will be in "I Spy."
  • This is the first time nudity is present in StarCrafts. The second time will be in season 2 episode, "Power Overwhelming", when an archon's shield is removed.
  • This is the first time a zerg unit defacates. Second time will be queens in "The Twelve Days of StarCrafts."
  • A flatulence sound is heard after Sgt. Patches's rear end is exposed.
  • Unit quotations from StarCraft II used:
    • Marine: "Let's rock!"

Cultural Reference[]

  • "BM" is an abbreviation for "bad manners", a term used when a player is behaving rudely, possibly evidenced by the zergling dumping on the bunker and Patchling ripping Sgt. Patches’s rear patch on his armor.
